About ToryTory graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Masters of Social Work in 2012. During her career as a Social Worker, she has worked in various non-profit and government organizations working with children, youth, young parents, families, adults and seniors. She has experience in a variety of areas working with clients of all ages (see Areas of Interest below for details). She has also maintained a private counselling practice since 2012.
Tory is registered with the BC College of Social Workers (Registration # 08615) which is the regulatory body in British Columbia that upholds standards of practice for Social Workers in the province. Tory is a mother of two. She enjoys spending time with her family exploring Vancouver Island skiing, hiking and camping. She is a runner and loves the challenge of running long distances. Some of Tory's other interests include reading and continuing to further her skills and knowledge in counselling practices. |

Counselling Modalities Used |
Tory draws from variety of counselling modalities based on the needs of each individual client and each session. Some of these modalities include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Choice Theory/Reality Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, Expressive Play Therapy, as well as Mindfulness. Tory is also trained as a Triple-P Positive Parenting Practitioner and uses some of these strategies in her work with parents facing parenting challenges. Tory is certified as an Advanced Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer in Emotion-Focussed Family Therapy (EFFT) which is effective in working with caregivers of individuals struggling with eating disorders, as well as general mental health, substance use, and behavioural concerns.
